REPORT ON THE MINISTRY’S PARTICIPATION AT THE ZIMBABWE INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR: 2007
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated at the Annual Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) held in Bulawayo from 24 to 28 April 2007. The Trade Fair was held under the theme “Zimbabwe Brands, Africa Brands and Global Brands”. More than 730 exhibitors took part at this year’s Trade Fair, with 13 countries from the region and abroad also participating. This reflected a 40% increase over last year’s participation.
At the Fair, the Ministry reached out to the public and explained the functions of the Ministry and how it relates to Foreign Embassies and International Organizations based in Harare. The public was also educated on the Ministry’s responsibilities as carried out through our Diplomatic Missions.
On display at the stand were four roll-up banners with the following themes: Zimbabwe’s Look East Policy, Promoting People-To-People Understanding Through Art And Culture, Working with Communities Abroad and Defending Zimbabwe’s Sovereignty At International Fora. The banners provided impressive visual images that enhanced understanding of the functions of the Ministry. Captured hereunder are the banners.
What caught the eye of most visitors to the stand was the fascinating stand-design, which was modelled on the Great Zimbabwe Ruins. Also captured hereunder is the stand-design.
Video clips of H.E. the President Cde R.G. Mugabe addressing international meetings such as the Earth Summit, Food and Agricultural Organizations (FAO) Summit, Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and Zimbabwe Independence Celebrations at Rufaro Stadium in 1980 were also flighted at the stand.
