Zimbabwe-Mozambique Good Relations Withstand The Test Of Time
Zimbabwe and Mozambique enjoy good bilateral relations. At a reception held recently to mark 32 years of Mozambique's independence from Portuguese domination, the Honourable Deputy Minister Cde Marumahoko together with the Mozambican Ambassador, reiterated that Zimbabwe and Mozambique shared good political, cultural and economic relations which stemmed from shared history, geography and culture.
Zimbabwe's relations with Mozambique date back to the liberation struggle when Mozambique provided material, moral and logistical support to Zimbabwe freedom fighters.
On its part, Zimbabwe helped Mozambique suppress civil unrest that arose shortly after the country's independence. Zimbabwe also participated in negotiations that led to the 1992 Agreement which sealed peace in Mozambique.
To date, warm relations still subsist as testified by the large volume of trade as well as cultural exchanges which are taking place under the Zimbabwe- Mozambique Friendship Association. |
