Ambassador Manzou, who opened the two-day Bi-National Commission attended by senior officials from both countries, said the two countries are working tirelessly to ensure that the decision made by the two Heads of State to transform bilateral relations under the Joint Permanent Commission (JPCC) framework.

The aim is to create a more strategic and comprehensive partnership is a great stride towards the relationship between the two countries.

The relationship between Zimbabwe and Botswana is experiencing a paradigm shift and this Bi-National Commission is a historical marker which should be harnessed and cherished to ensure it is preserved for future generations to come.

During the Inaugural Session of the Heads of State Summit eight (8) Agreements will be signed and efforts are being made to concretise the long standing historical and friendly ties between the two great countries.

Ambassador Manzou welcomed the step by Air Botswana to open up two (2) direct weekly flights that will fly the Harare-Gaborone route.

He indicated that this will facilitate the movement of both nationals as well as goods across the nations’ boarders.

The endeavour will ultimately be broadened by the desire to establish a One Stop Border Post (OSBPs) at Plumtree / Ramokgwebana as well as Kazungula which is expected to improve the economic integration of the two countries and undoubtedly produce impacts that will be felt within the region and beyond.
