World leaders react to former President Robert Mugabe's death

World leaders have reacted to the passing-on of Zimbabwe’s former President Robert Mugabe, paying tribute through glowing tributes to one of Africa’s Elder Statesman who led Zimbabwe from colonial rule in 1980. Former President Mugabe died on Friday, in at 95.

Among the homage messages were that Cde. Mugabe was a fighter and champion of Africa's cause; one of Africa’s bravest and Pan-Africanist leaders; a colossus on the Zimbabwean stage; one of Africa's most renowned freedom fighters; outstanding national liberation movement leader and politician; immense and selfless; among others.

Among world leaders who sent in their condolences are:

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa; Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta; Tanzanian President John Magufuli; Namibian President Hage Geingob; Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari; Russian President Vladimir Putin; and China through its Foreign Ministry.
