SPORT DIPLOMACY: UEFA PRESIDENT MR ALEKSANDER CEFERIN PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON MINISTER S.B MOYO

The visiting UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin paid a courtesy call on Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Hon. Lt General Dr. SB Moyo at his Munhumutapa offices where they discussed various issues that can help the country to re-engage through sport and how football can be developed with help from the European football governing body.

The Minister ceases the opportunity to utilise sport to advance the government’s re-engagement policy.

Ceferin has been in the country with his family on a 10-day vacation that has seen him visit various tourist resorts that include the magnificent Victoria Falls, Hwange, Great Zimbabwe and the Eastern Highlands.

The UEFA President said his organisation is connected to a majority of big companies doing business in Europe and which do different other things and that they are ready to help, to promote Zimbabwe.

The visiting delegation told  Dr. SB Moyo that , although they have been in Zimbabwe for 10 days, they managed to visit various resort areas and saw the potential which the country. The delegation said the country has everything that made their visit enjoyablehas since it has everything and said they enjoyed their visit to Zimbabwe, despite the negative advice they received before choosing Zimbabwe.

Dr. SB Moyo thanked Ceferin and his team for choosing Zimbabwe for their holiday and said it was very important, for the UEFA President to choose   Zimbabwe as a destination for his holiday.

Dr Moyo said he hopes the country hopes Mr Ceferin and his team will be the country’s ambassadors when they return back to Europe since they saw for themselves the hospitality that Zimbabwe provides.

“This is why we are so excited about your coming and it will be very good also that we capitalise on other areas of cooperation which could be on the development of sport tourism in Zimbabwe. We think we can also facilitate international trade with international clubs, particularly from Europe, which could also visit Zimbabwe.”

Minister Moyo said there were various investment opportunities that Ceferin, in his individual capacity, could exploit.

Ceferin also later took the opportunity to invite Honourable Dr. Moyo to the European Champions League final to be held in Instabul in May.
