Zimbabwe offers a warm welcome to all investors of all nationalities who are free to participate in whatever industrial or commercial venture attracts them. At present the Government is actively promoting overseas investment in the following fields;
Jewellery production and processing.
Zimbabwe is well endowed with the precious stones used in jewellery manufacture. The North-East, North-West, and the South-Central part of the country is highly in endowed in beryl, amethyst, sapphire, emerald and topaz.
Platinum is also considered a precious metal because it is the second widely used after gold in jewellery manufacture worldwide.
Gold
Zimbabwe is ranked the third biggest gold producer in the region after South Africa and Ghana while internationally, it is the ninth. Gold is ductile, malleable and sectile, meaning that it can be pounded into other shapes, stretched into wire and cut into slices, it is a good conductor of heat and electricity and is unaffected by air and most reagents.
There is also investment potential in the construction and industry and materials.
Solar energy production and processing
Solar can be used for street lighting, irrigation, water heating. There is an ever-growing market for solar energy in Zimbabwe.
Motor componentry production
The motor industry is fast changing technology, and this presents a challenge for developing countries to rise up to the occasion and start the manufacture of some of the motor components, to stay afloat and reduce over dependence on overseas technology.
Leather production and processing
Leather is a natural product and is made by converting animal skins by means of a tannage, which consists of numerous mechanical and chemical operations.
Timber processing and production
There is under-supply of wood in the world market. This has led to the firming of prices on the international markets.
